How to Set Up a Custom Domain for Your Forms
Serve forms from your own domain like forms.yourbrand.com instead of formet.in. Professional white-label setup.
Before you start
- A Formet paid plan
- A domain name you own
- Access to your domain DNS settings
Choose your domain
Decide on a subdomain for your forms, like forms.yourbrand.com or survey.yourbrand.com. Using a subdomain is recommended over the root domain.
Add the domain in Formet
Go to Dashboard → Settings → Custom Domain. Enter your chosen subdomain (e.g., forms.yourbrand.com). Formet will provide a CNAME record target.
Update DNS records
Log into your domain registrar (GoDaddy, Namecheap, Cloudflare, etc.). Add a CNAME record pointing your subdomain to the target provided by Formet. DNS propagation takes 15 minutes to 48 hours.
Verify and activate
Back in Formet, click "Verify Domain". Once DNS has propagated, the verification will succeed and your custom domain will be active with automatic SSL.
Update your forms
Your forms are now accessible at forms.yourbrand.com/f/form-name. Update any existing links or embeds to use the new domain for consistent branding.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is SSL included?
Yes. Formet automatically provisions and renews SSL certificates for your custom domain at no extra cost.
Can I use a root domain instead of subdomain?
We recommend subdomains (forms.yourdomain.com) for technical reliability. Root domain setup is possible but requires an A record instead of CNAME.
How long does DNS take to propagate?
Usually 15-30 minutes, but can take up to 48 hours depending on your registrar. During propagation, the verification may fail — just try again later.
Does Formet branding disappear?
Custom domain setup removes the Formet URL. To remove the "Powered by Formet" badge from the form itself, use a paid plan with white-label option.
